During the onset of COVID-19, DWC’s 120 staff members suddenly found themselves working from home, many of whom with no prior experience working with remote technologies. We responded quickly by deploying VPN, Remote Desktop, and new laptops. It was a frantic first month, but we were able to settle into the “new normal” within a short period of time.
Our work continues on. The unfortunate reality after a large-scale disaster is a preponderance of scammers and opportunists trying to take advantage of a desperate situation. As remote work becomes the new norm, our focus is shifting to cyber security. Security threats are growing in their scale and frequency, and we are discovering just how aggressively hackers are exploiting the “access from anywhere” reality of the new workforce.
There are inflection points when our interaction with technology fundamentally changes, and perhaps it’s fitting that a pandemic is teaching us the importance of keeping our computers healthy and secure. As we invest heavily in new Microsoft security technologies, we remain vigilant in protecting our clients and ensuring that the new norm will be a secure and productive one.
